CRIMINAL RECORD CHECK

A Basic Disclosure criminal record check is now an essential element in the recruitment process for a pet owner if you are going to be holding keys to enter the owners home while they are not there; you need to have a check done.

By having a basic disclosure Criminal Record Check through NarpsUK you can give your clients peace of mind that they are giving their keys to someone who does not have a criminal record.

If you have lived at your current address for over a year you can apply online directly with Disclosures Scotland for £25. by clicking on the following link:- Apply for Basic Disclosure Scotland

However if you have lived at your current address for less than one year, we can offer you a basic disclosure CRB check at a cost of £65.00 which will need to be paid via credit card using the link below. When you make this payment you will receive a confirmation email that the process has been started and a following email with a link to your application form which you will need to fill in and submit, you will also need to either fax or scan two forms of ID.

Your results will come back in 7 -10 days from when your application is sent to Disclosures Scotland, at which time you will receive a confirmation email with the results of the check. Once your basic disclosure is complete you will recieve a hard copy of your certificate in the post.

Code of Practice

Disclosure information is information contained in criminal record certificates under the Police Act 1997 as such it is sensitive information that needs to be dealt with in a disciplined and respectful manner.

The code of practice sets out the requirements for everyone participating in the Disclosure process. The code of practice is intended to ensure that sensitive personal information is:

  • Handled and stored appropriately
  • Kept only for as long as necessary
  • Used fairly and provides assurances to applicants

It is important that individuals are made aware of their rights through the use of written policies which are to be made available to them upon request.

To fulfill their obligations we require customers to enter into agreement to ensure the Code of practice is upheld. Strict guidelines and controls ensure information is protected throughout the process. By following these guidelines and controls organisations can fulfill their obligations without difficulty. It is only possible therefore to give a synopsis here of the rights and expectations of those that use the service. As part of the service we provide customers with policies and guidance to assist organisations in fulfilling their responsibilities and to ensure applicants are made aware of their rights.

What are suitable forms of identification?

A full list of acceptable means of identification is listed below.

Three documents must be produced; one from Group 1 and two from Group 2. If this is not possible, then five documents from Group 2 must be produced– these must be in the name of the applicant. It is preferred that one of these documents contains photographic identification.

Group 1

  • Valid passport (any nationality)
  • UK Driving Licence Full or Provisional – England/Wales/Scotland/Northern Ireland/Isle of Man; either photocard or paper (a photocard is only valid if accompanied with the paper counterpart)
  • Original UK birth certificate (issued within 12 months of date of birth, full or short form acceptable)
  • Valid photo identity card (EU countries only)
  • UK Firearms licence
  • HM Forces ID card (UK)
  • Adoption Certificate (UK)

Group 2

  • Marriage certificate/Civil Partnership Certificate
  • Non-original UK birth certificate (issued after 12 months of date of birth, full or short form acceptable)
  • P45/P60 statement
  • Utility bill (electricity, gas, water, telephone – including mobile phone contract/bill)
  • Valid TV licence
  • Credit card statement
  • Store card statement
  • Mortgage statement
  • Valid insurance certificate
  • Certificate of British nationality
  • British work permit/visa**
  • Asylum Registration Card
  • Personal correspondence or a document from a Government Department*
  • Bank or Building Society Document**
  • Financial statement e.g. pension, endowment, ISA **
  • Valid vehicle registration document
  • Mail order catalogue statement*
  • Court summons
